Pros: Williamsport has some great restaurants and the annual Little League events. It has some very nice hotels. It has a nice centrally located bike path. The school system offers good programs for students in regular and Honors levels of classes. There are places to hike and recreate nearby like the Pine Creek Rail Trail and the South Williamsport Water Authority Trails. There are several nice parks in and nearby to Williamsport for sports, outdoor walking and recreation. There are a few stores locally and more 20 minutes away.
Cons: Crime related issues in certain neighborhoods including shootings and drug- related incidents are some concerns. People in Williamsport are not as polite or friendly as in other areas of Pennsylvania or the U.S. The natural gas companies are starting to cause water pollution. Williamsport has a lot of older houses that need repairs. This community needs more affordable housing that includes working heat and ac systems. Some of the older homes are not insulated correctly and can get very cold in the winter. Pennsylvania has an aging population and there are a lot of older people who live here while many young residents choose to leave permanently to find work. Williamsport needs more places of employment for its growing population as not all residents can find jobs and experiencing poverty is not good for some of its residents. There are church and community organizations which try to alleviate issues like lack of affordable housing or hunger for its residents. This city has a lower cost of living than other places in the U.S.
